Save yourself THOUSANDS of dollars from buying an electric passivation machine by doing this! ✅️ Buy the correct thread type for your TIG torch setup at this Amazon link: https://a.co/d/3SR8UZZ (or search "Weld Bead Cleaning Brush") ✅️ Buy a bottle of @waltersurfacetech Walter Surfox-T and Surfox-N (T is the acid you apply to the brush, and N is the neutralizer that you spray the passviated area and then wipe the metal off with.) ✅️ Set your welder on AC at 15-20 amps and the balance at 80 to 90. ✅️ Soak the bristles with the Surfox-T and activate the trigger or pedal to passivate the weld area. Always keep the bristles wet! Electric passiavtion and the "pickling paste" method of stainless steel passivation removes free iron and restores the chromium oxide film on the surface of stainless... Electric passivation machines can cost thousands of dollars, and the consumables are very expensive, but they're a much quicker and more efficient way of passivating. The pickling paste method takes a lot longer, it's very toxic and dangerous. First time breaking out this @fein_us cordless mag drill! 🥵🥵🥵 This thing is perfect for the shop and even better for a jobsite. The quick release system for the annular cutters is just 🤌!! I'm one happy fabber every time I get to flip the latches on one of my orange cases. This was a great addition to the Fein arsenal, and I highly recommend that you add it to yours! It's made from 1/4" and 3/16" steel plate, and it's virtually weldless. I designed it so that there's no visible welds and all the seams and joints are super clean. Pretty standard and unexciting railings for an ADA ramp. First time using the @swagoffroad tubing bender, and I have to say that it was well worth the money. I'm not sure how much I'll use it, but it'll definitely pay for itself, eventually! I made a quick little attachment for it so I can lock it onto my table. Here's a quick video on my process of building monostringers staircases. From taking the field measurements to the installation. Getting accurate data and measurements is crucial to a good rise and run on a staircase. Using a CAD modeling program really helps with building staircases and anything I'm building because I can always cross reference data points from the model to the product I'm working on. If you're not familiar with CAD programs or maybe a little bit computer illiterate, I would start with Sketck Up. It's very easy to learn, user-friendly, and not as involved as something like Fusion 360 or AutoCAD. Plus, Sketch Up has a free web version that you can practice with until it's worth paying for the subscription fee. Ergo, the Pro subscription is pretty affordable considering the time you'll save by drawing your projects out by hand. There are many ways to skin a cat, as they say, so I'd be glad to hear other people's methods of building these things! I had (what I thought was) a perfect piece of glass to make a table top for this chain base I've had sitting around the shop forever. This base has probably almost 10 million views on across all platforms and social media accounts! Anyways, of course, the base was ½" too long for the glass piece I had for it... So I cut a few links off it today to shorten it, and I set the glass on it to see what it would look like. Pretty sweet table! I'm going to send this to the powder coater for a texture matte black finish. Unless someone has a better suggestion for a color?? We managed to get well over 3,000 lbs of steel into the house with fully finished floors. No heavy equipment or cranes - just chainfalls, carts, and straps. However, I did manage to break about $12,000 in glass that fell off my trailer. That was the beginning of a black cloud over my head that has continued to follow me for a couple of months. I'm ready for this bad luck to stop 😅 I'm hoping for a solid recovery for 2025 because it didn't start too well! These are a pretty cool little accessory for 16mm Siegmund and 5/8" Strong Hand fixture tables. They'll be available for other brands and in more sizes in the future. @madebymiller_ sent me a whole box of 'em! He's a great dude, a hard worker, and really spent a lot of time making everything perfect on these - from the product to the packaging! I've had a few situations where I could've used the Fixture Table Plugs for a little assembly area on my @siegmund.welding table... I get into projects where's there's a lot of hardware involved, so I've always had nuts and bolts fall through the holes. It's definitely worth having a box or two or these around! The handiest little tool for the shop you didn't know you needed! These heavy-duty lazy susans are cheap and very useful. They hold up to 1,000lbs and are great for deburring large plates like this, in my opinion. It prevents me from scratching the hell out of my table when I have to rotate the plate to deburr the other edges. I needed a base for a round dining table top. I provided Hamlin Welding with dimensions and a diagram, and Mitchell designed an incredible base that would also accommodate a leaf extension, if ever used.
